In this paper, the load-carrying capacity and friction force of a water droplet confined between two hydrophobic surfaces have been investigated experimentally, and the origin of the friction force has been studied. It was found that the friction force at low shear velocity was caused by the asymmetrical surface tension due to the contact angle hysteresis.
