This paper presents a process-based quality management information framework to improve the productivity of the quality system (QS) process based on the new version of ISO 9000 approved in 2000. To apply the new standard into construction projects, this research built a group of information models and developed a process-based quality management information system, called ISO 9000 quality management information system (QMIS). The system integrates scheduling with the QS process covering inspection and testing, nonconformance reporting, and corrective action during the construction phase. ISO 9000 QMIS was validated successfully through a pilot test, and the results and feedback are discussed. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V All rights reserved.
