Two new lanosteriod type triterpenes have been isolated from the aerial parts of Combretum molle. Their structures have been established on the basis of spectral data as 3beta,7alpha-dihydroxy lanost-5-ene, designated as combretene-A (1), and 3beta-hydroxy-28-hydroxymethyl lanost-25(26)-ene, named as combretene-B (2). Previously reported compounds, such as a 1alpha-hydroxy cycloartenoid (mollic acid), and its 3alpha-L-arabinoside, 3beta-D-Xyloside and 3beta-D-glucoside, have also been isolated from the plant.
