Predominant groups of bacteria from a human fecal flora-associated mouse model challenged with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid were quantified with fluorescence in situ hybridization combined with How cytometry using specific 16S rRNA targeted oligonucleotide probes. This approach provides a useful tool with high throughput to evaluate fecal microflora under antibiotic treatment.
