Synthesis of model compound containing an indole spiro-β-lactam moiety with vinylchloride in chartellines

A model compound containing an indole beta-lactam moiety hearing vinylchloride in chartellines was synthesized from the Mannich reaction of isatin imine with ketene silyl acetal, beta-lactam formation of the resulting beta-amino ester, and copper(I)mediated coupling with (E)-alpha-chloro-beta-iodostyrene.
