One of the reasons for the failure of gob-side entry retaining under the hard roof and the soft floor is the lack of supporting strength at the end of the roadway and the breakdown of the coal wall when the roof is pressed. To this end, the supporting concept of enhancing the support strength and realizing the cutting roof along the gob-side was put forward and three roadside support schemes were designed. Taking the gob-side entry retaining in Binhu coal mine as an example, the three roadside support schemes were analyzed by numerical simulation and field monitoring. The analysis results show that the roadside support scheme of anchorage cable + single hydraulic prop cut roof and anchor net retaining wall support can effectively control the roof sinking of the roadway and realize the roof cutting. The research can provide a reference for roadside support of gob-side entry retaining in limestone roof and soft floor.
