A simple procedure for preparing arrays of metal nanotubules is reported. This is based on a template synthesis method, which entails electrochemical metal deposition into nanometer-wide parallel pores of porous anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) membranes with nanoarchitectured silver nano-ring array electrodes. Highly ordered Pt nanotubule arrays were prepared and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The growth mechanism of Pt nanotubules is also discussed.
