Magnetic susceptibility measurements have been performed on xFe(2)O(3) (.) (100-x)[3B(2)O(3) (.) BaO] glasses with 0 < x less than or equal to 50 mol% prepared at 1200degreesC and 1250degreesC equilibration melting temperatures. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility indicate that in case of these two series of glasses the distribution, valence states and the magnetical interactions of the iron ions in 3B(2)O(3) (.) BaO glass matrix depend on both Fe2O3 concentration and melting temperature. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
