Denantrant gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) is a widely used method for mutation analysis and for studies of microbial diversity. We report on a very straightforward means to eliminate the artifactual 'double bands' that can be encountered in several applications. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V All rights reserved.
