We have measured the optical conductivity sigma(1)(omega) of the filled skutterudites CeFe4Sb12; CeRu4Sb12; and CeOs4Sb12: These sigma(1)(omega) spectra are explained in terms of the hybridization between Ce 4f states and conduction (c) electron states. From the comparison of the sigma(1)(omega) spectra, it is concluded that the degree of c-f hybridization is strongest for CeFe4Sb12 and weakest for CeOs4Sb12: (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V.
