We calculate the g-factor for electron, holes, and electron-hole pairs in CdTe quantum dots using the multiband k.p theory. The results show that g-factors are highly sensitive to the spatial confinement and its magnitude as well as sign may change when the geometric shape of the dot is altered. We identify the valence-conduction interband coupling between states with different parities, as mainly responsible for level reordering defining these features. We are providing insights to control the Lande g-factor in quantum dots.
