Preparation of ferrofluid from cyclodextrin and magnetite

A ferrofluid was obtained from magnetite and beta-cyclodextrin. The results evidence the inclusion of magnetite into beta-cyclodextrin. This is the first inclusion complex of a metal oxide reported. The physical-chemical characterization was performed by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy, electron microprobe with an energy dispersive spectrometer, and magnetometry.
