A new synthesis of chiral acyclic nucleoside and nucleotide analogues starting from D(-)- or L(+)-riboses was proposed. Antiviral properties of the synthesized compounds towards the pox virus family were evaluated. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
