The photoresponse properties of Bi2Se3 nanosheets prepared by a simple hydrothermal intercalation and exfoliation route are studied. Photoelectrochemical results indicate that the as-prepared Bi2Se3 nanosheets devices have excellent sensitivity, high-speed and good reproducibility as a photodetector, which are superior to the bulk Bi2Se3. Especially, the response time, responsivity, and external quantum efficiency are found to be about 0.7 s, 20.48 mA/W, and 8.36 eta(0), respectively. It is proposed that the two-dimensional nanostructure of Bi2Se3 can be effectively used in high performance nanoscale photodetectors. (C) 2014 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
