Fluoroalkyl end-capped 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid oligomer could cause a gelation in an ionic liquid (1-methylpyrazolium tetrafluoroborate) under non-crosslinked conditions. This new fluorinated oligomer gel formed in the ionic liquid was found to exhibit a high ionic (proton) conductivity of 10(-2) S/cm level at room temperature. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd.
