An adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) technique is implemented to meet the requirement of high grid resolution in reaction zones for calculation of laminar nonpremixed flames. A refinement criterion is established to track an oscillating flame and to calculate the flame blowout conditions. Synchronization of the solutions between the different levels of grids to ensure a global conservation of transport equations is a critical step in the AMR technique. Error estimates are given to assess the effectiveness of the current AMR numerical code. The computational overhead of synchronization is also estimated, and comparison of CPU times of different grid levels is given.
