Cerium-doped lutetium oxyorthosilicate crystals with dimension of 0 40 x 60 mm(3) were grown by Czochralski method from an inductively heated iridium crucible. The crystal structure was examined by XRD and confirmed to be monoclinic symmetry. Its optical transmission, UV-excited, X-ray excited emission and light yield were measured at room temperature. Its decay time was also tested under optical excitation and gamma excitation, respectively. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
