In this research, multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) are used to fabricate the infrared detector by deposition on the interdigital copper electrode based on the oxide layer of silicon chip. Then the microstructure, electrical character and infrared sensitive properties of the detector were investigated. The results show that multi-wall carbon nanotubes have high sensitivity and low response time to infrared at room temperature by stimulating at certain voltage. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
