A facile and efficient nucleophilic difluoromethylation of primary alkyl halides has been disclosed through a novel nucleophilic substitutionreductive desulfonylation strategy, using difluoromethyl phenyl sulfone as a difluoromethyl anion (CF2H-) equivalent.
