The isobaric heat capacities and densities are determined for cyclohexyl formate (CHF), cyclohexyl acetate (CHA), cyclohexyl propionate (CHP), cyclohexyl butyrate (CHB), and cyclohexyl valerate (CHV). The speed of sound in liquid cyclohexyl acetate is also measured. The approach to evaluate the isochoric heat capacities of the liquids using the enthalpies of vaporization and the molar volumes is proposed. The isochoric heat capacities of the liquid esters are found from the above data. The (C-p - C (v)) differences for the esters are calculated using the lattice model. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
