We biomimeticly fabricated titanium dioxide films with three-dimensionally ordered structure. These films exhibit structural color, photocatalysis, and photoinduced superhydrophilicity. In addition, this biomimetic approach solves the problem of the stability of the superhydrophilicity of titanium dioxide. (C) 2004 American Institute of Physics.
