A modified average method to combine belief function based on distance measures of evidence is proposed. The weight of each body of evidence (BOE) is taken into account. A numerical example is shown to illustrate the use of the proposed method to combine conflicting evidence. Some open issues are discussed in the final section. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
