X-ray microtomography and three-dimensional image analysis were used to characterise both the pore size and interpore aperture size distributions in bioactive glass foam tissue engineering scaffolds. These techniques allow quantification of the scaffold's key macrostructural features that control tissue growth. The technique was applied to determine the optimum sintering temperature.
