Observation of B0 → D*-(5π)+, B+ → D*-(4π)++ and B+ → (D)over-bar*0(5π)+ -: art. no. 111103

We report the first observation of a number of decay modes of the B meson, namely B-0-->D*-(5pi)(+), B+-->D*-(4pi)(++), and B+-->(D) over bar (*0)(5pi)(+), where (npi) implies the combination of n charged pions. The analysis is based on a 140 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. We measure B[B-0-->D*-(5pi)(+)]=(4.72+/-0.59+/-0.71)x10(-3), B[B+-->D*-(4pi)(++)]=(2.56+/-0.26+/-0.33)x10(-3), and B[B+-->(D) over bar (*0)(5pi)(+)]=(5.67+/-0.91+/-0.85)x10(-3). We also provide improved measurements of the branching fractions for the decay modes B-0-->D*-(3pi)(+), B+-->(D) over bar (*0)(3pi)(+), and B-0-->(D) over bar (*0)(4pi)(0).
