There is growing evidence that nurse practitioners and physician assistants can work collectively with physicians in collaborative practice models to optimize surgical outcomes. Collaboration is the art of working together to achieve a common goal. The goal of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physicians is to combine the knowledge and skills of all health care specialists to enhance patient care.
