A series of neutral platinum(II) complexes with substituted 8-hydroxyquinoline ligands for use in organic electroluminescent devices have been prepared. These platinum(II) complexes give deep-red to near-infrared phosphorescence with lambda(max, peak) from 650 to 695 nm and lambda(max, shoulder) from 705 to 755 nm. High-performance organic light-emitting devices are obtained using these bis(8-hydroxyquinolato) platinum(II) complexes as a deep-red to near-infrared emitter with maximum external quantum efficiency, luminous efficiency, and turn-on voltage of 1.7%, 0.32 cd/A, and 3.2 V, respectively.
