Photophysical and photocatalytic properties of Cs2Nb4O11 consisting of NbO6 octahedra and NbO4 tetrahedra were investigated. The band gap of Cs2Nb4O11 was 3.7 eV. Broad blue photoluminescence was observed at 77 K. Pretreated NiO-loaded Cs2Nb4O11 showed a high activity for water splitting under UV-light irradiation.
