We present results on the occurrence of high-order harmonic generation in a two-electron quantum dot molecule. The two-electron quantum dot molecule consists of two interacting electrons in a double quantum dot system. We consider coherent interaction of the quantum dot molecule with a low-frequency and high-intensity driving field. We calculate the emission spectrum numerically for material parameters corresponding to GaAs and show that high-order harmonic generation is possible in this system. Our findings are in very good agreement with a model system based on level crossing theory. The model system is used for the derivation of a relation for the cutoff frequency of the harmonics. This cutoff frequency is shown to be crucially dependent on the external field frequency and intensity. (C) 2005 American Institute of Physics.
