Mono- and binuclear Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes of Schiff-base ligands derived from 7-formyl-8-hydroxyquinoline with diaminonaphthalenes were prepared and characterized by elemental and thermal analysis, conductance measurements and IR spectroscopy. The structures of the solid complexes Under study arc established by using electronic and ESR spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The results show that Co(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes Lire tetrahedral, Ni(II) complexes arc octahedral and Cu(II) complexes are either tetragonally distorted octahedral or square planar. All complexes and ligands were found to be highly active against fungi.
