The synthesis and characterisation of Ni(II), Cu(II) and Cd(II) complexes of 3-furaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (3FTSC) are 14 reported Elemental analysis, molar conductance and spectral (IR, UV and H-1 NMR) measurements have been used to characterise the complexes. In addition, the structure of the complex [Cu(3FTSC)(2)] has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. In Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes, the metal ion is coordinated through the sulfur atom and the azomethine nitrogen atom while in the Cd(II) complexes the coordinating atoms are sulfur and furanic oxygen ones.
