The growth of two bacterial strains belonging to Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli species, was studied in the presence of various aliquots of a magnetic fluid. Turbidimetric measurement of cell density was accomplished at the wavelength of 560 nm during 84 h. Cell culture biomass was measured after centrifugation in control and magnetic fluid samples. Different magneto-sensitivities were evidenced in the S. aureus and E coli strains: inhibitory or stimulatory influences were noticed depending on the species, magnetic fluid concentration and observation time.
