Formation of ferrite-chromites BaFe10Cr2O19 and SrFe10Cr2O19 in the solid-thase reaction of Fe2O3 and Cr2O3 with barium or strontium carbonate

X-ray phase analysis and the thermomagnetic method were applied to study solid-phase reactions in mixtures of powders 5Fe(2)O(3) + Cr2O3 + BaCO3 and 5Fe(2)O(3) + Cr2O3 + SrCO3, yielding, respectively, barium and strontium ferrite-chromite solid solutions BaFe10Cr2O19 and SrFe10Cr2O19.
