The paper presents a 2D SPH numerical flume to investigate regular wave slamming on an open-piled structure. The model employs CSPM and Riemann solution to discretize the Navier-Stokes equations. Solid boundaries are simulated by wall particles. The pressure of these dummy particles is determined by a coupling approach, which can keep the pressure field more stable near the boundaries. In addition, an improved wall particles treatment is used for accurate tracking of impacting characteristics around the structure. Then, the improved SPH model is employed to simulate regular wave impacting on the subface of the structure. The main features of velocity field and pressure field near the structure are presented. And the model is validated against the experimental data and a relative good agreement is observed. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
