In this paper, the method proposed by Netto (2009) [1] for the prediction of the collapse pressure of corroded or worn pipes is reassessed in light of a new set of experiments recently published by Sakakibara et al. (2009) [4]. Experiments and predictions correlated very well, corroborating the reliability of the proposed equation for the estimation of the detrimental effect of narrow and long grooves on the collapse pressure of offshore pipelines.
