This article discusses glycemic management of type 2 diabetes, reviewing the characteristics, advantages, and limitations of the various treatment options. A broad strategy is proposed, with evidence-based standard tactics to be considered first, and individualized additional options reserved for situations in which the standard approach is not sufficient.
