As part of an integrated study on the molecular response of woody plants to flooding, three CaM genes were isolated from oak seedlings (Quercus petraea Liebl.) and characterized. QpCaM-1 was almost exclusively expressed in roots, whereas QpCaM-2 and -3 were more evenly distributed throughout the plant. The present paper documents the differential expression of these genes during hypoxia. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
