Two nonlinear evolution equations are separately reduced to nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODE) by using a simple transformation. When the parameters are taken as special values, the traveling wave solutions are expressed by the hyperbolic functions, the trigonometric functions and the rational functions. The proposed method can be used for many other nonlinear evolution equations. (C) 2009 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
