The catalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohols by the phthalimide-N-oxyl radical electrogenerated from N-hydroxyphthalimide was examined by cyclic voltammetry and rotating disk electrode voltarnmetry. The quantitative analysis of the electrocatalytic reaction was conducted and the rate constants for the oxidation of benzyl alcohols were estimated. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
