A titania-modified microchannel chip (TMC) was fabricated to implement an efficient photocatalytic synthesis Of (L)-pipecolinic acid from L-lysine. The conversion rate in the chip was 70 times larger than that in a cuvette using nm-sized titania particles with almost the same selectivity and enantiomeric excess. The results showed that TMC had satisfactory potential to allow its application to photocatalytic synthesis as well as photodegradation. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
