The targeting of ferrofluids composed of 20 nm magnetic particles was studied through simulation and animal experiment. The results showed that some magnetic particles were concentrated in the target area depending on the applied magnetic field. Through theoretical analysis, the retention of the magnetic nanoparticles in a target area is due to large magnetic liquid beads formed by the magnetic field. (c) 2005 Published by Elsevier B.V.
