A mesoporous aluminosilicate was hydrothermally prepared from microcline in an alkaline condition with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as synthesis directing agent The properties of the sample were determined by X-ray powder diffraction, nitrogen adsorption, and transmission electron microscope. The sample was employed for removal of Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solution. The effect of adsorption time, pH value of the medium and initial concentration of Cr(VI) on adsorption was studied. The adsorption was modeled by Dubinin Radushkevich adsorption theory. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
