This is a brief review on the developments and applications of chemiluminescence (CL) sensors dated from 1999 to present. Methods and materials for immobilization of CL reagents are introduced. The CL-based sensors, including the sensors for the detection of inorganic species, organic species and biological macromolecules are summarized. The advantages and limitations of CL sensors are discussed. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
