Magnetoresistive La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 nanowires (NWs) have been synthesized using pulsed-laser deposition, with a template of MgO NWs. Transport studies reveal a remarkable metal-insulator transition at 325 K, accompanied by room-temperature colossal magnetoresistance (MR) of similar to 10% under a 1 T magnetic field. Shape-induced MR was observed for magnetic fields applied parallel or perpendicular to the NW (see Figure).
