Osmium tetroxide was immobilized onto a short-length PEGylated ionic polymer, which exhibited excellent catalytic performance in OsO4-catalyzed asymmetric dihydroxylation. The resulting polymer was recycled five times without any loss of yield or enantioselectivity. In addition to the immobilization of osmium, the polymer also exhibited an ability to immobilize a significant amount of chiral ligand. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
