The fluorapatite doped with metal halide (ZnCl2, CuCl2 and NiCl2) catalyses the three-component Biginelli reaction to afford the corresponding dihydropyrimidin-2-ones in high yields. This heterogeneous catalysis has been carried out in liquid phase using ethanol as solvent. (C) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
