A practical and green method for the synthesis of 2-oxazolines, 2-imidazolines and 2-thiazolines by the reaction of aromatic nitriles with 2-aminoalcohol or ethylenediamine and or 2-aminoethanthiol using cellulose sulfuric acid as a biopolymer-based solid acid catalyst under solvent-free conditions is described.
