Separator plays an important role in the safety performance of lithium-ion battery since many accidents have been caused by internal shorting of battery due to the failure of the separators. Herein, thermal stable and flexible glass fiber fabric was reported to be a promising candidate for separators with high safety. The thermal stability, mechanical, and electrochemical performance of the glass fiber fabrics were studied and compared with traditional commercialized separators in details. Our results show that the glass fiber fabrics can be a successful separator for lithium-ion battery with high safety performance due to its greatly improved thermal stability, high mechanical strength, and matched electrochemical performance.
