The light-addressable potentiometric sensor (LAPS) is a field effect-based sensor, which allows due to its simple structure a wide range of possible applications. The aim of this work is the design of a portable miniaturised 16-channel LAPS with a signal processing unit, which reduces the measurement set-up to a minimum. The whole device has been created as a capsulated unit, which could be used as normal as a standard measurement equipment. A LabVIEW-based program allows an easy and comfortable measurement procedure. Hard- and software have been optimised with respect to the signal-to-noise ratio, stability, sensitivity and easy handling. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
