The effect of additive An, Ag, Pd, Cr, and Cu on the chemical ordering, magnetic properties, and grain growth of chemically synthesized FePt nanoparticles has been investigated. The L1(0) phase has been obtained by solution annealing and direct synthesis. Easy axis alignment has been obtained using dispersed L1(0) FePt nanoparticles. (c) 2005 Acta Materialia Inc.
