The silver/polypyrrole core/shell nanoparticles with diameter less than 60 nm were successfully synthesized in the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone by one-step UV-induced polymerization. The nanoparticles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Possible mechanism was proposed for the formation of the silver/polypyrrole core/sbell nanostructure during the photopolymerization. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
